The promotions were made following recommendations by the Police Council and received approval from the President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama.

The event forms part of ongoing efforts to recognise merit, dedication, and long service within the Ghana Police Service, while also strengthening leadership capacity across operational and administrative levels.

Eight of the officers were elevated from the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) to Commissioner of Police (COP). They include Dr. Luke Asue-In-Yeng Zakpaa, Mr. Frederick Agyei, Mr. Duuti Tuaruka, Mr. Arthur Osei-Akoto, Mr. Darko Offei Lomotey, Mr. Eric Ken Winful, Mr. Barnabas Nambont Nasumong, and Mr. Desmond Owusu Boampong.

Addressing the officers, the IGP congratulated them on their promotion and urged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and integrity in the discharge of their duties.

The Ghana Police Service continues to emphasise leadership development and institutional strengthening as part of its broader mandate to ensure law and order across the country.
