It’s too early for a load-shedding timetable – ECG PRO
The General Manager for External Communications at the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Dr. Charles Nii Ayiku Ayiku, has indicated that it is premature to introduce a load-shedding timetable despite recent power supply interruptions in parts of the country.
His remarks come at a time when many Ghanaians have raised concerns over fluctuating electricity supply, a situation officials attribute to ongoing repair works on key transmission infrastructure following the recent fire at the Ghana Grid Company substation in Akosombo.
Speaking in an interview on Sunday, April 26, he explained that efforts are currently underway to restore stability to the national grid, with engineers actively working on affected transmission lines.
According to him, some areas have already begun to experience improved power supply as restoration progresses.
Dr. Ayiku noted that, in his personal assessment, it would be too soon to consider a formal load management schedule, given the ongoing interventions to resolve the issue.
He assured the public that the situation is being managed and appealed for calm, expressing optimism that normal power supply will be fully restored in the coming days.
He added that a load-shedding timetable would only be considered if the situation fails to improve over time.
