Judicial staff embark on nationwide strike

The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) says its indefinite strike remains in force despite a meeting between its leadership, the Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie and management of the Judicial Service.

The meeting, held following the declaration of the industrial action, was described by the association as “progressive”with the management expressing commitment to working with the government to address the outstanding demands of its members.

In a press statement signed by JUSAG General Secretary, Abdulai Yakubu, the association said the management has agreed to table their issues before the Office of the President for expedited resolution.

JUSAG, however, says the strike will continue until its concerns are addressed with the necessary steps taken to resolve their issues.

"Management agreed and tabled the outstanding issues before the office of the President for expedited resolution, however we want the outcome of the intervention to enable the National Executive council of JUSAG make a decision"

The association embarked on an indefinite strike on Monday, November 2, 2026, over unpaid salary arrears.

The industrial action has affected all categories of Judicial Service staff including cleaners, gardeners, security personnel, court clerks, cashiers, interpreters, registrars and directors.

The strike has disrupted administrative and other essential services across the courts in the country.

"We wish to inform Staff and the public that THE STRIKE IS STILL ON. When a revised and improved approval is recieved from the government and satisfiesour demands, we  shall inform the public on the status of the strike"
