The Member of Parliament for Jomoro Constituency nd Deputy Minister for Transport, Dorcas Afo-Toffey, marked her birthday on May 4, 2026, with a humanitarian gesture to mothers and newborns at the maternity ward of the Half Assini Hospital.

The support, delivered on her behalf by her representative, John Nyamekeh, included the donation of essential items such as baby supplies, hygiene products and other necessities aimed at supporting maternal and neonatal care.

In addition, the MP settled the medical bills of all mothers who gave birth at the facility on her birthday, enabling them to return home without financial burden.

The items were formally received by the Hospital Administrator, Eunice Naa Tarchie Nartey, who expressed appreciation on behalf of the hospital.

Speaking during the presentation, Mr. Nyamekeh conveyed the MP’s message that childbirth should be a moment of joy rather than anxiety, reaffirming her commitment to improving maternal healthcare, particularly at district-level facilities.

Staff of the hospital described the intervention as timely and impactful, while beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the support, noting its significance to their families.

The gesture also draws attention to the ongoing need for sustained investment in maternal healthcare infrastructure, as facilities like Half Assini Hospital continue to serve as critical centres for surrounding communities.

Hon. Afo-Toffey reaffirmed her commitment to advancing healthcare delivery in the constituency, with a focus on improving maternal and child health outcomes.
