Police hospital announces temporary closure of key units for fumigation exercise
The Ghana Police Hospital in the Greater Accra Region has announced a scheduled fumigation and maintenance exercise that will affect several of its major departments from Friday, May 1 to Sunday, May 3, 2026.
In a statement issued by the hospital’s Public Affairs Office, the exercise will cover critical units including the Eye Clinic, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Specialist Consulting Rooms, Maternity and Labour Ward, Female Ward, Male Ward, and the Theatre.
According to the hospital, the initiative is aimed at improving safety and hygiene standards within the facility to ensure a healthier environment for both patients and staff.
As part of preparations for the exercise, management has announced that there will be no new admissions to the affected departments starting from April 30, 2026. This measure is intended to help decongest the units ahead of the fumigation.
The hospital has therefore advised members of the public and its clients to take note of the temporary disruption and seek alternative healthcare services during the period.
Public Affairs Officer, C/Insp. Faustina Afia Nunekpeku, expressed appreciation to the public for their cooperation and understanding as the hospital undertakes the important maintenance exercise.
