The Member of Parliament (MP) for Lambussie and Board Chairman of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Titus Kofi Beyuo, has defended the Finance Minister against claims by the Minority that government is failing to spend on key sectors of the economy.

Responding to the allegations, Hon. Beyuo said the government’s expenditure has been deliberate and focused on programmes that are delivering measurable benefits to Ghanaians rather than unnecessary spending.

He cited the health sector as an example, noting that over 1.5 million people have benefited from the MahamaCare programme while government funding through the Ghana Medical Trust Fund has supported the establishment of a cardiac catheterization laboratory that has already carried out 24 complex cardiac procedures.

He also pointed to  government’s payment of GH¢4.5 billion to the National Health Insurance Authority as evidence of its commitment to sustaining essential public services.

According to Hon. Beyuo, these investments demonstrate that the Finance Minister is prudently utilizing public resources to improve healthcare and other critical sectors despite the Minority’s criticism.

He maintained that government remains committed to directing resources into programmes that have a direct impact on the lives of Ghanaians and urged the public to judge the administration by the outcomes of its investments rather than political rhetoric.
