NE/R: Rev. Stephen Wengam, Wife sponsors Legacy Temple at Paknatik
The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Wengam, together with his wife, Lady Mrs Monica Wengam have sponsored the construction of a legacy temple for the Paknatik Central Assemblies of God in the North East Region.
The couple also donated 300 brand-new plastic chairs and musical equipment to support the work of the local assembly.
Rev. Wengam explained that the construction of the temple was in fulfilment of a request made by his late mother, Madam Deborah Wengam, before her passing in October 2024.
Paknatik is the paternal hometown of the General Superintendent.
Funding for the project was largely provided by Rev. Wengam and his wife, who covered 85 percent of the total cost, while members of the Paknatik Central Assembly contributed the remaining 15 percent.
The newly constructed temple, which has a seating capacity of 350, has been named the Rev. Elijah Namyela Panka Temple in honour of Rev. Elijah Namyela Panka.
Rev. Panka was the first indigenous General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana and played a key role in establishing the Paknatik church in the 1960s.
Speaking at the dedication ceremony, Rev. Wengam encouraged pastors and church members across the country to emulate such acts by helping to provide decent places of worship, particularly for churches in rural and deprived communities.
The General Superintendent and his wife have so far sponsored the construction of five legacy temples across the country, with a sixth project currently underway.
