NHIA staff celebrates Dr Victor Bampoe with surprise birthday event
Staff of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) have honoured their Chief Executive Officer, Dr Victor Asare Bampoe, with a surprise birthday celebration at the Authority’s head office in Accra.
The event, held on Thursday, April 9, 2026, saw members of the Executive Management team join staff at the forecourt to celebrate Dr Bampoe’s leadership and contributions to the organisation.
Speaking on behalf of staff, the NHIA’s Operations Deputy Chief Executive, Dr Senanu Kwesi Djokoto, praised Dr Bampoe for what he described as his transformational leadership style.
“We want to say a very big thank you to Dr Bampoe, and we pray that the Almighty God continues to grant him wisdom and a kind heart,” he said.
Dr Bampoe has been leading efforts to strengthen internal controls, improve staff welfare, eliminate illegal charges within the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), and align operations with Ghana’s goal of achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
Responding to the gesture, Dr Bampoe expressed appreciation to staff, describing the celebration as a pleasant surprise.
“I am deeply surprised. I am privileged to lead an incredible organisation with dedicated people,” he said, invoking the principle of “Ubuntu” to emphasise unity and collective effort.
He urged staff to continue working together to improve healthcare delivery and contribute to national development.
