One child dead after tipper truck crashes into school bus at Dzorwulu

A six-year-old girl has died after sustaining critical injuries in a road crash involving a school bus and a tipper truck at Airport Junction on the Accra Mall–Dzorwulu road.

Class News has confirmed that the child passed away at the Police Hospital at about 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, where she had been receiving treatment following the collision.

The accident occurred at approximately 2:00 p.m. when a tipper truck bearing registration number GN 9673-25 crashed into a school bus believed to belong to Ask God Preparatory School in Ashaiman.

Assistant Divisional Officer I (ADO I) King Alex Nartey of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) told Citi News that several other children who sustained injuries in the crash remain on admission at various hospitals and are receiving medical care.

Emergency personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service and the National Ambulance Service responded promptly to the scene, rescuing the injured victims before transporting them to nearby health facilities for treatment.

Police are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision to determine the cause of the crash.
