The Patriotic Muslim Front (PMF) and LeadGate Foundation have commended the Pilgrim Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) for what they describe as significant improvements in the organisation and management of this year’s Hajj.

In a joint statement issued in Accra on April 9, 2026, the two organisations praised the leadership of PAOG under Alhaj Abdul-Rauf Tanko Ibrahim for what they termed “remarkable transformation” since assuming office after the 2025 Hajj season.

According to the group, their assessment of ongoing Hajj preparations points to several key achievements, including the timely announcement of Hajj fares, which has enabled prospective pilgrims to plan financially in advance.

They also highlighted improvements in coordination and payment processes, noting that the current system has reduced confusion and eliminated issues such as over-subscription that previously affected the pilgrimage process.

The statement further commended the introduction and organisation of medical screening for pilgrims, describing it as well-structured and effectively implemented.

On visa processing, the groups cited information from PAOG indicating that about 90 per cent of Hajj visas had been secured as of April 8, 2026, attributing the progress to proactive engagement with Saudi authorities.

PMF and LeadGate Foundation also acknowledged enhanced media and public engagement by PAOG, stating that regular and transparent communication has helped restore public confidence and better inform stakeholders.

The organisations said the developments signal a “new dawn” in Ghana’s Hajj administration, marked by transparency, accountability, and a focus on the welfare of pilgrims.

They urged PAOG to sustain the momentum and called on Ghanaian pilgrims and stakeholders to cooperate fully with the office as final preparations continue for the pilgrimage season.

The statement concluded with prayers for a successful and incident-free Hajj.
