Prison doesn’t reform, it only makes you bolder — Nana Agradaa speaks after release

Evangelist Patricia Asiamah, widely known as Nana Agradaa, has shared a deeply personal reflection on her time in custody, stating that prison does not necessarily reform individuals but rather strengthens their boldness.

Addressing her congregation at the Heaven Way Champion International Ministry, the controversial preacher recounted her emotional experience following her sentencing.

According to her, the moment the judge pronounced a 15-year prison sentence, she was overwhelmed with shock and disbelief.

She revealed that in that instant, she exclaimed “tawfiakwa,” expressing her fear and distress, as she believed her life had effectively come to an end.

Agradaa explained that during her time behind bars, she realised that true change does not come from imprisonment alone. Instead, she emphasised that personal transformation depends on an individual’s own decision and mindset.

“Prison does not change people,” she told her congregation. “It rather makes you more bold. Real change happens when you make up your mind and decide in your heart not to go back to your old ways.”

She further recounted her first moments after being sentenced, noting that she struggled to speak when approached by bloggers and the media.

“When I stepped out and bloggers asked me questions, I couldn’t say anything. All I could say was, ‘pray for me,’ because at that moment, I felt like my end had come,” she added.
