The personal physician to the late Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, Dr Isaac Ofori Tieku, has confirmed that the Kristo Asafo founder's body was secretly transported from the Transitions Funeral Home in Accra to the Apostle Kwadwo Safo Centre at Gomoa Mpota ahead of his funeral.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Chief Jerry Forson on Accra FM's Ghana Yensom morning show, Dr Ofori Tieku said the family had hoped to bid Apostle Safo farewell in an atmosphere of love and unity, but had run into internal disagreements.

"All we wanted was for love and unity to bid our father farewell but we realised some people among us had different intentions," he said.

He explained that a specially prepared Kantanka ambulance had been taken to the funeral home, originally intended to publicly convey Apostle Safo's remains.

"The Kantanka car was a special ambulance prepared to carry the mortal remains of our father so we could gloriously transport him in public for all to see," he said.

According to Dr Ofori Tieku, that vehicle was instead used as a decoy, while another vehicle quietly transported the body to the funeral grounds at Gomoa Mpota.

He said the opposing faction had learnt of their plans and tried to frustrate them, but they too had intelligence that allowed them to carry out the operation successfully.

"We heard of all their plans and schemes, and we knew exactly what to do for our father," he said.

He confirmed that the body was taken to the Apostle Kwadwo Safo Centre at Gomoa Mpota on Thursday, ahead of the funeral rites.

"We protected our father and took him away," he said.

He attributed the success of the plan to God and to the example set by the Apostle himself.

"It is God who has worked victoriously," he said.

"We observed how our father was and how he worked, and inspired by his knowledge, we undertook this plan successfully to honour him," he added.
