UK court bans Ghanaian fish supplier over unsafe storage practices
A Ghanaian businessman who supplied ready-made fish meals to supermarkets in the United Kingdom has been convicted after authorities found he was storing fish in unsanitary conditions inside his home.
According to Watford Borough Council and court records, firefighters responding to a blaze at the Watford flat of 62-year-old Stephen Akuoko discovered fish kept in a bathtub and on the bathroom floor close to a toilet.

Akuoko admitted to two food safety offences when he appeared before St Albans Crown Court.
The presiding judge described the meals as “unfit for human consumption” and handed him a two-year suspended prison sentence.
He was also banned from running any food business for five years.
