Vice President to deliver keynote address at Oxford Africa Conference 2026
Vice President of Ghana, Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, is expected to deliver the keynote address at the 2026 Oxford Africa Conference being held at the University of Oxford.
The conference, organised by the Oxford University Africa Society, is scheduled for May 16–17, 2026, at the Andrew Wiles Building, also known as the Mathematical Institute, at Oxford University.
Now in its 16th edition, the annual conference has become one of Oxford University’s flagship Africa-focused forums, attracting participants from academia, policymaking, business, and the international development community.
This year’s conference is themed, “Anchoring Africa: Grounded Leadership in the Age of Disruption,” and will explore how African leadership and institutions can respond to emerging global challenges including economic uncertainty, climate change, technological transformation, and evolving geopolitical dynamics.
The two-day programme is expected to feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, fireside chats, networking sessions, and policy dialogues aimed at generating practical and Africa-centred solutions to contemporary challenges facing the continent.
Vice President Prof. Opoku-Agyemang is expected to use the platform to highlight Ghana’s democratic governance experience, inclusive development agenda, youth empowerment initiatives, education reforms, and Africa’s growing role in shaping global conversations on leadership and development.
The Oxford University Africa Society, popularly known as AfriSoc, is a student-led organisation that brings together scholars, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and global leaders to promote dialogue on Africa’s development and future direction.
Over the years, the conference has hosted several prominent figures from government, academia, and industry, strengthening its reputation as one of the leading intellectual and policy engagement platforms on Africa at Oxford University.
