Calls grow for accountability following removal of Police Special Operations leader
Media personality Kevin Taylor has called for a thorough investigation and accountability following the removal of DSP Bawah Abdul Jalil as head of the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Operations Team.
In a strongly worded statement, Taylor argued that the decision to remove the officer, while a step in the right direction, does not go far enough to address concerns surrounding his tenure.
He raised issues about alleged misconduct and questioned the former team leader’s suitability for the role, insisting that both his actions and inactions while in charge must be fully examined.
Mr Taylor further called for justice in relation to the reported killing of an unarmed civilian in northern Ghana, stressing that failure to address such incidents could undermine public trust in law enforcement and set a dangerous precedent.
He also urged authorities to conduct a transparent investigation into an alleged assault involving businessman Ibrahim Mahama, as well as other incidents linked to the operations of the team.
According to him, making the findings of such investigations public would be critical in restoring confidence in the Ghana Police Service.
