Ghana has recorded 80 successful firearm trace matches through the INTERPOL iARMS database, supporting ongoing investigations into transnational crime.

The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, Lydia Yaako Donkor, disclosed this in a Facebook update.

She said the successful traces were generated from 5,251 searches conducted by Ghana between 2024 and the first quarter of 2026.

Out of the 80 hits recorded, 66 were linked to the United States and are tied to active investigations.

According to her, the results demonstrate the effectiveness of the iARMS database as an operational tool for firearm tracing, intelligence development, and international cooperation.

She noted that each recovered firearm, when properly traced, can provide intelligence that connects to broader criminal networks, including trafficking and cross-border activities.

She presented the data at the 21st INTERPOL Heads of National Central Bureaus Conference held in Lyon, France.
