Mahama promises major infrastructure boost for Bimbila under “Big Push” agenda
President Dramani Mahama has assured traditional leaders that Bimbila and the wider Nanung area will benefit from ongoing infrastructure projects under the government’s “Big Push” agenda.
He identified key priority projects including the Bangdili–Tsechagli bridge, the Bimbila–Salaga road, the Kandai–Salaga road, and the Chereponi–Bunkpurugu road, all expected to enhance connectivity and drive economic growth across the eastern corridor.
Addressing residents during the sod-cutting of a 24-Hour market in Bimbilla, the President disclosed that contracts have been awarded for nearly 2,000 kilometres of roads nationwide, backed by an allocation of approximately 50 billion cedis.
He described the programme as the most extensive road investment effort in Ghana’s history, with multiple projects being executed simultaneously across the country.
Several infrastructure projects within the Bimbila area have also been prioritised to improve accessibility and support local development.
Meanwhile, President Mahama clarified the role of vehicles distributed under the Free Primary Healthcare Programme, particularly tricycles, explaining that they are intended for community outreach and service delivery, not emergency medical transport.
