The Tamale Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers, including two Level 400 students from the University for Development Studies (UDS), Nyankpala and Dungu campuses.

The suspects, identified as Peter Abugri (24), Asuma Shaini (22), and Yakubu Wakasu (19), were apprehended following a reported robbery along the Bolga-Nasia road.

The victim told police he was attacked while relieving himself in nearby bushes, where the assailants, armed with a pistol and a knife, stole his iPhone 17 Pro and a Haojue motorbike.

Police said the victim tracked the stolen iPhone and discovered that the suspects were heading toward the North East Region.

Acting on this information, officers at a checkpoint conducted a search and arrested one suspect along with the stolen motorbike.

Subsequent searches of the suspects’ hostels led to the arrest of the other two and the recovery of additional stolen items, including a pistol, a jackknife, machetes, and the iPhone.

The suspects have been charged and remanded to prison, with the case adjourned to April 19, 2026.
