GES warns against malpractice as WASSCE kick-off
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has cautioned students and stakeholders against examination malpractice as the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations (WASSCE ) theory papers commence tomorrow.
Speaking at a press conference, GES Director-General Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis emphasized the detrimental effects of exam malpractice, stating it undermines the quality of education and leads to inaccurate assessments of learning outcomes.
Prof. Davis announced that 509,862 candidates, including 225,274 boys and 284,588 girls, will sit for the exams across 1,017 centres nationwide.
He urged students to prepare well and warned against seeking external help, citing measures to prevent cheating.
The GES has collaborated with security agencies to ensure law and order at exam centers and warned supervisors and invigilators to maintain professionalism or face sanctions.
Hotlines (020-136-0789 and 020-136-0786) have been made available to report exam malpractice.
