Vice President bids farewell to outgoing UNICEF representative to Ghana

Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has bid farewell to the outgoing UNICEF Representative to Ghana, Mr. Osama Makkawi Khogali, thanking him for his dedicated service and contributions to advancing child welfare and social development during his tenure in the country.

During a farewell meeting held at the Jubilee House and attended by officials from the Multilateral Relations Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vice President, speaking on behalf of the Government and people of Ghana, expressed appreciation for Mr. Khogali’s leadership and UNICEF’s continued partnership with Ghana in promoting education, social protection and the well-being of children.

“We are grateful for your service and for UNICEF’s continued partnership with Ghana in improving the lives of children and vulnerable populations,” the Vice President said.

Mr. Khogali expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Ghana for the cooperation and support extended to UNICEF throughout his tenure and highlighted progress made in key sectors, including education, social protection and child welfare.

“I leave Ghana with deep appreciation for the cooperation and support we have received. Together, we have made important progress in advancing the welfare and rights of children,” he said.

Vice President Prof. Opoku-Agyemang reaffirmed Government’s commitment to protecting children’s rights, promoting equity and strengthening partnerships that improve outcomes for vulnerable populations.

“Protecting the rights and welfare of children remains a priority for Government, and we will continue to strengthen partnerships that create opportunities and improve lives,” she stated.

She further emphasized the importance of multilateral cooperation and called on international partners to continue advocating for the interests of developing countries and vulnerable populations on the global stage.

“As we strengthen multilateral cooperation, we must continue advocating for the interests of developing countries and ensure that vulnerable populations remain at the centre of global development efforts,” she added.

The Vice President wished Mr. Khogali success in his next assignment and expressed confidence that the strong partnership between Ghana and UNICEF would continue to deepen in pursuit of a better future for every child.
