The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) has commenced processes to review Ghana’s Kindergarten to Primary Six curriculum, introduced in the 2019/2020 academic year.

The review forms part of efforts to align the curriculum with national education policies and emerging government priorities.

As part of the exercise, a joint meeting of the Curriculum Steering Committee and Technical Working Group was held on March 12, 2026, at the Ministry of Education Ghana in Accra.

The meeting received a report from a NaCCA research team that conducted an evaluation of the existing curriculum, providing key insights to guide the review process.

Officials say the engagement is one of several planned consultations aimed at tracking progress and ensuring a comprehensive revision of the curriculum.

The review seeks to make the curriculum more responsive to evolving educational needs, while reinforcing its relevance to Ghana’s socio-cultural context.

It will also focus on integrating Ghanaian culture and values into teaching and learning, as well as strengthening competencies that support improved learning outcomes at the basic education level.
