Weija-Gbawe MP launches initiative to support BECE candidates
The Member of Parliament for Weija-Gbawe Constituency and Deputy Minority Chief Whip, Jerry Ahmed Shaib, has launched an initiative aimed at supporting candidates preparing for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Dubbed “Buckle Up to School with the MP,” the programme seeks to motivate and equip over 2,500 students across the constituency ahead of their exams and to provide them with sandals.
As part of the initiative, beneficiaries will receive specially made sandals produced within the constituency, promoting local enterprise while providing practical support to students.
Mr. Shaib said the intervention is intended to boost the confidence of candidates and encourage them to approach the examinations with determination.
The initiative also forms part of broader efforts by the MP to invest in education and youth development within the constituency.
Stakeholders in the education sector have welcomed the move, describing it as a timely intervention that combines academic motivation with support for local industry.
