82-year-old farmer crowned overall Best National Farmer at 2025 awards
An 82-year-old farmer from the Eastern Region, Opanyin Abraham Kwaku Adusei, has been adjudged the Overall Best National Farmer for 2025 at the 41st National Farmers Day Awards ceremony held in Ho, the Volta Regional capital.
Opanyin Adusei outshone several outstanding farmers across the country, earning top honours and a cash prize for his decades of dedication, innovation, and exceptional service to Ghana’s agricultural development.
The first runner-up award went to 48-year-old Osman Kadiri from the Greater Accra Region, while 63-year-old Charles Gyato from the Oti Region was named second runner-up.
Madam Grace Owusuaah received the National Best Female Farmer award, with all winners receiving cash prizes for their remarkable contributions to agriculture.
President John Dramani Mahama presented the awards and praised the recipients for their resilience and commitment to national growth through food production.
He noted that their hard work continues to sustain the nation’s economy, ensure food security, and inspire future generations.
In his acceptance remarks, Opanyin Adusei expressed deep gratitude for the recognition and pledged to collaborate with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to improve farmer welfare and promote modern agricultural practices.
