Ahanta West Blue Water Guards appeal for logistics to boost anti-galamsey operations
The Ahanta West Blue Water Guard team, led by Emmanuel Sam, is calling on the Minerals Commission and relevant authorities to urgently provide essential logistics to enhance their work in protecting water bodies and combating illegal mining activities.
In a video circulating on social media, Mr. Sam and his team expressed strong dedication to their mandate but noted that the lack of basic equipment is hampering their effectiveness.
He appealed specifically for motorbikes and other operational tools to aid monitoring and rapid response efforts within the municipality’s mining-prone communities.
According to the team, improved logistical support will significantly strengthen their capacity to safeguard water resources, curb illegal mining, and complement the government’s efforts in restoring degraded environments.
The call comes at a time when concerns over environmental degradation and water pollution continue to grow, with community-based groups like the Blue Water Guards playing an increasingly critical role in anti-galamsey operations.
