The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has praised the committee that investigated the fire incident at the Akosombo Substation, commending its members for their professionalism, diligence and commitment to duty.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, June 11, Dr. Jinapor announced that he had received the committee’s final report and expressed appreciation to the team, led by Ing. Amuna, for successfully completing its assignment.

According to the Minister, the committee demonstrated a high level of dedication in examining the circumstances surrounding the fire outbreak and compiling a comprehensive report for government’s consideration.

He noted that the investigation forms an important part of efforts to establish the facts surrounding the incident and identify measures that can help prevent similar occurrences in the future.

Dr. Jinapor indicated that the report would now undergo a thorough review process to enable government to determine the most appropriate course of action based on the committee’s findings and recommendations.

He stressed that the government remains committed to ensuring accountability and strengthening the resilience of critical national infrastructure.

The Minister added that the work of the committee aligns with broader efforts to improve oversight, enhance operational standards, and reinforce confidence in Ghana’s energy sector.

The Akosombo Substation fire prompted concerns about the security and reliability of key electricity infrastructure, leading to the establishment of the investigative committee to determine the cause of the incident and recommend corrective measures.

Dr. Jinapor reiterated the government's commitment to safeguarding strategic energy assets and ensuring the continued stability of the country's power supply system.

The findings of the committee are expected to play a significant role in shaping future policy and operational decisions aimed at strengthening the management and protection of critical energy infrastructure across the country.
