The Supreme Court has unanimously rejected a review application filed by the Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, in his legal battle over the hearing of cases during the judicial vacation.

A three-member panel of the apex court delivered the decision on Wednesday, bringing a fresh setback to the MP's attempt to overturn an earlier ruling against him.

Before the substantive matter was heard, lawyers for Mr Oppong Nkrumah sought an adjournment, arguing that documents from the Attorney-General's Department had been served on them too late.

His lawyer, Frank Davies, told the Court that the late service had not given the legal team sufficient time to study the documents and prepare an appropriate response.

The Supreme Court, however, declined the request to postpone the proceedings and proceeded to hear the review application.

Mr Oppong Nkrumah had initially gone before the Court seeking an injunction to stop the hearing of what he described as selected cases during the legal vacation.

That request was dismissed, leading him to return to the Supreme Court with an application asking the Court to reconsider and reverse its earlier decision.

The three-member panel, however, unanimously refused the application.

The ruling leaves intact the Court's earlier decision dismissing Mr Oppong Nkrumah's injunction request and effectively ends his latest attempt to challenge the hearing of cases during the legal vacation.
