Parliament approves Ayariga, Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings as Ministers
Parliament has given the green light for the appointment of Mahama Ayariga and Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings to serve as Ministers for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs and Environment, Science and Technology respectively.
The two nominees secured Parliament’s approval after appearing before the Appointments Committee on Thursday, August 27, for scrutiny.
Mr Ayariga, a former Majority Leader and Chairman of Parliament’s Business Committee, was selected by President John Dramani Mahama to take charge of the Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Ministry.
His new portfolio places him at the centre of issues relating to local governance, chieftaincy matters and religious affairs.
Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, meanwhile, has been tasked with leading the government’s efforts in environmental protection, scientific advancement and technological development.
Her ministry is also expected to play a key role in addressing environmental concerns and promoting policies aimed at sustainable development.
Following their vetting, the Appointments Committee endorsed both nominees and submitted its recommendations to the House for consideration.
Parliament subsequently approved the nominations, clearing the way for the two to formally assume their respective ministerial responsibilities.
The appointments form part of President Mahama’s efforts to reshape his government and strengthen the implementation of his administration’s policy priorities.
