Ministry of Defence joins family of El-Wak stampede Victim for final funeral rites
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Saturday joined the family of Yvonne Adwoa Amoateng, one of the victims of the tragic El-Wak Stadium stampede, for her final funeral rites held at the Garrison Methodist Presbyterian Church at Burma Camp.
The solemn ceremony drew relatives, friends, sympathisers and representatives from the Defence establishment, who gathered to pay their last respects and stand in solidarity with the bereaved family.
Senior officials present included the Deputy Judge Advocate General, Colonel Frederick Aboagye, and the Army Liaison Officer at the MoD, Colonel Yaw Owusu Appah.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Adentan, Ella Christine Esinam Nongo, also attended, alongside several MoD staff, senior officers and soldiers of the Ghana Armed Forces.
Their presence, according to officials, was to reaffirm the military’s continued support to families affected by the incident and to honour the memory of Amoateng, whose passing remains deeply felt within the community.
