Mahama to attend One Health Summit in France, hold bilateral talks with Macron
President John Dramani Mahama will undertake an official visit to France on Monday, April 6, 2026, at the invitation of Emmanuel Macron.
During the visit, President Mahama will attend the 2026 One Health Summit in Lyon before proceeding to Paris for bilateral talks with President Macron at the Élysée Palace.
President Mahama, founder of the Accra Reset Initiative, will co-chair the high-level segment of the summit alongside President Macron on Tuesday. The summit will bring together world leaders, health ministers, and global health experts to discuss global health systems, sustainable food production, and coordinated strategies to address health challenges.
He is scheduled to deliver two keynote addresses. The first will be at a meeting on Global Health Architecture, co-chaired by President Macron and Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus of the World Health Organization. Discussions at this session will focus on reforms to global health initiatives and the endorsement of a Political Declaration aimed at strengthening international health cooperation.
The second keynote address will be delivered at the opening of the high-level segment for heads of state and government, where President Mahama will outline Ghana’s commitments and perspectives on global health security.
On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, President Mahama will visit the Élysée Palace for a bilateral meeting with President Macron. The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening Ghana–France relations and exploring cooperation in areas including health, education, trade, investment, and regional security.
Ahead of the meeting, President Mahama will be received by Gérard Larcher at the Senate House.
President Mahama is expected to return to Accra shortly after the meeting at the Élysée Palace.
