Ghana engages US, Israel and Iran envoys over Middle East tensions
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has held separate meetings with the Heads of Mission of the United States, Israel and Iran in Accra to discuss the ongoing military escalation in the Middle East and its implications for Ghanaian nationals in the region.
The engagements were aimed at gaining better insight into the evolving situation, securing assurances for the safety of Ghanaian citizens and exploring cooperation for the safe evacuation of nationals if necessary.
The meetings were attended by Roey Gilad, Ali Ghomshi and Rolf Olson.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa, used the opportunity to request guarantees for the protection of Ghanaians living or working in the region, while also seeking collaboration with the respective diplomatic missions to ensure the safe evacuation of citizens should the security situation deteriorate.
The meetings form part of Ghana’s diplomatic efforts to monitor developments in the Middle East and safeguard the welfare of its nationals abroad
