A Ghanaian delegation led by Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku is set to embark on a week-long agricultural partnership and engagement programme in Omaha, Nebraska, in the United States as part of efforts to modernise Ghana’s livestock sector.

The visit forms part of the implementation of the Livestock Development Project (LDP) and the vision outlined in the 2024 manifesto of the National Democratic Congress to revamp and revitalise the country’s livestock industry.

The delegation is expected to engage with agricultural institutions and industry players in Nebraska to study advanced livestock, dairy and poultry production systems.

According to the Minister, the exchange programme seeks to expose Ghana to modern technologies and best practices in areas such as herd management, animal genetics, animal health systems and precision agriculture.

The engagement is also aimed at supporting government’s broader agenda of improving food security, increasing local livestock production and strengthening the agricultural value chain.

The Ministry believes that the partnership will provide valuable insights to support Ghana’s livestock modernisation drive and enhance productivity within the sector.

The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to transform the country’s agricultural sector through international collaboration, innovation and technology transfer.
