The Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, has called for sustained vigilance and stronger collaboration to safeguard Ghana’s peace amid growing regional security threats.

He made the remarks while attending the Coastal States Stability Mechanism (CSSM) Senior-Level Talks on enhancing regional security, held in Accra.

The high-level dialogue brought together key stakeholders to strengthen coordinated efforts aimed at preventing violent extremism, particularly in Northern Ghana, where emerging threats continue to raise concern.

Addressing participants, the Minister described Ghana as a beacon of peace within the sub-region, noting that the country’s stability is the result of deliberate leadership, strategic coordination, and consistent investment in people and institutions.

He, however, cautioned that Ghana is not immune to the rising threat of terrorism, especially given the instability in the Sahel region.

He stressed the need for proactive measures, timely interventions, and improved service delivery to address the underlying causes of vulnerability.

The meeting was hosted by the International Organization for Migration under the CSSM initiative.

Chief of Mission for IOM Ghana, Fatou Diallo Ndiaye, commended Ghana’s leadership in maintaining peace and strengthening its security framework, and reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting national efforts.

Regional Ministers from the Upper East, Upper West, and Savannah Regions also participated in the discussions, highlighting ongoing initiatives focused on improving state presence, enhancing public service delivery, and building resilient communities in areas facing socio-economic challenges.
