Majority Caucus: Dafeamekpor hails James Agalga’s competence as ‘solid on procedure, solid on the law’
South Dayi Member of Parliament (MP) Rockson Dafeamekpor has praised newly appointed Majority Leader James Agalga, describing him as a brilliant parliamentarian with a strong grasp of parliamentary procedure and the law.
Speaking on TV3's Key Points programme, Mr Dafeamekpor said Mr Agalga was among the few parliamentarians whose speeches naturally command attention whenever he rises to speak on the floor.
He said Mr Agalga was “solid on procedure, solid on the law” and had exceptional reasoning and communication skills.
“There are some people who, when they speak, you just have to listen. And James is one such person. He has a voice that, anytime he’s on his feet on the floor, you are minded to listen to him.”
Mr Dafeamekpor said the caucus valued Mr Agalga’s contribution and guidance in managing its affairs.
“So, we relish working with him and having him provide guidance in terms of how we manage the caucus.”
The South Dayi MP also expressed confidence that Mr Agalga would eventually become Speaker of Parliament.
“Everybody is congratulating him. We all know that it’s just a matter of time before he leads the House,” he said.
He further described Mr Agalga as a parliamentarian who consistently brings fresh perspectives to debates.
“I’ve met him in Parliament, and he’s never had a bad day in Parliament. I have never recalled James being on his feet and flustered. He always brings perspectives that you may not have considered before,” he said.
Mr Agalga was appointed Majority Leader after Mahama Ayariga stepped down from the position following his nomination for a Cabinet appointment by President John Mahama.
