The Minister for Government Communications, Felix Ofosu Kwakye has raised concerns over what he describes as silence from the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) following alleged comments made by the Minority Leader against a sitting judge.

According to the Minister, the response of the legal professional body has been inconsistent, suggesting selective engagement in matters involving public commentary on the Judiciary.

The Minister who is also the Member of Parliament for Abura Asebu Kwamankese Constitueny in the Central Region raised these concerns in a Facebook post on Monday May 18, 2026

He further questioned the GBA’s neutrality, alleging that the Association tends to respond swiftly to criticism from individuals outside the New Patriotic Party (NPP) while remaining quiet in cases involving its members.

The Minister also referenced past incidents, arguing that the Association’s lack of response in the current matter raises concerns about fairness and consistency in its public positions.

He described the situation as disappointing and called for equal standards in addressing issues that involve respect for the judiciary, regardless of political affiliation.

The Ghana Bar Association has not yet publicly responded to the concerns raised.
