The Member of Parliament for Weija-Gbawe Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Jerry Ahmed Shaib, has called for stronger support for women’s participation in politics, stressing that women have consistently demonstrated the capacity to contribute meaningfully to national development.

Speaking on the floor of the Parliament of Ghana, the lawmaker emphasised the important role women play in shaping society and advancing the country’s progress.

According to him, women have long shown dedication and resilience in their various roles and should therefore be given equal opportunities to participate in governance.

“Women have always been supportive and hard-working, and it is time they are given equal opportunities to participate in governance,” he stated.

Mr. Shaib commended women in Parliament and across the country for their commitment to their families, communities and professional responsibilities.

He urged women to continue striving for excellence and to compete confidently with their male counterparts in leadership and public service.

The MP also acknowledged the challenges women often face in politics, including societal expectations and stereotypes, but encouraged them not to allow these barriers to discourage them from pursuing leadership roles.

According to him, creating an inclusive political environment that promotes equality and fairness is essential to strengthening Ghana’s democratic governance.

Mr. Shaib expressed optimism that increased support for women in politics will inspire more women to take up leadership roles and actively contribute to shaping the country’s future.
