Ghana's Black Queens beat Cote d'Ivoire 2-1 in Casablanca on Thursday, securing a place in the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup intercontinental playoff.

Cote d'Ivoire took an early lead in the fourth minute when Ines Konan scored from the penalty spot.

Ghana responded after the break, with Princess Marfo levelling the score in the 59th minute.

Josephine Bonsu then completed the comeback in the 72nd minute, converting a penalty to put the Black Queens 2-1 ahead.

Ghana held on to secure the win and keep their World Cup qualification hopes alive.

The victory came in the WAFCON play-in, introduced to determine the two African teams advancing to the six-team preliminary round of the FIFA Women's World Cup Intercontinental Playoff Tournament. Ghana had exited WAFCON at the quarter-final stage before this playoff win.

The Black Queens now continue their pursuit of a place at the 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil.
