Acting CEO of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Madam Rashida Hassan, together with Rabiatu Abubakar and Nana Kwame Effah, team manager of Ampem Dakoa Ladies, paid a visit to Sports Minister Kofi Adams.

The delegation presented the Women’s League Championship trophy to the minister and announced the team’s upcoming participation in the WAFU Zone B tournament in Burkina Faso.

During the meeting, the Ampem Dakoa Ladies were commended for their outstanding performance in winning the Women’s League Championship. Their victory has earned them the right to represent Ghana at the prestigious WAFU Zone B tournament.

Mr Adams highlighted the enormous and largely untapped potential of women’s football in Ghana, noting the natural talent available in the country.

He expressed optimism that with increased effort and support, women’s football could be developed to a level that rivals the men’s game.

Acknowledging the challenges involved in managing women’s football, the minister said the government is committed to investing in sports through the sports fund, provided resources and funds are effectively allocated.

He said directives have been issued to review the national lottery system to ensure it contributes more effectively to the sports fund for the development of various sports, including women’s football.

Mr Adams also commended the Ghana Football Association for its efforts to strengthen women’s football and assured the GFA of the government’s readiness to provide further support and collaboration.

He wished the Ampem Dakoa Ladies success in their upcoming tournament and pledged that the ministry would soon reach out to offer additional support to promote women’s football across the country.
