GFA charges Hohoe United, sets April 14 deadline over league withdrawal
The Ghana Football Association has charged Hohoe United FC for alleged breaches of Articles 13(1) and 34(6)(d) of the 2025 Ghana Premier League Regulations, following the club’s decision to withdraw from the ongoing season.
According to the FA, Hohoe United is alleged to have withdrawn from the league without just cause. The association also stated that the club’s actions are deemed to have brought the game into disrepute.
The club has been given until Tuesday, April 14, 2026, to respond to the charges.
The development follows a formal notice issued by Hohoe United to the FA, in which the club announced its immediate withdrawal from the remainder of the 2025/2026 Ghana Premier League season.
In the statement, signed by club owner Tom Amewu-Duglu, Hohoe United said the decision was taken after what it described as “systemic unfairness and apparent bias” in the disciplinary process, particularly relating to a three-match home ban currently being served by the club.
The club added that its withdrawal was a “principled stand against injustice” and clarified that the decision does not signal the end of Hohoe United FC.
