GFA opens talks with Joachim Löw for Black Stars job
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has opened negotiations with former Germany head coach Joachim Löw over the vacant Black Stars position following the departure of Otto Addo.
Sources indicate that initial discussions have been positive, with Löw expressing interest while assessing Ghana’s squad, technical structure, and long-term project.
Löw, who led Germany to victory at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, is seen as a strong candidate due to his experience managing top-level talent and implementing a clear football philosophy.
The move reflects the GFA’s intent to reset the team after a difficult run of results and strengthen preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Ghana faces England, Croatia, and Panama in the group stage.
Negotiations are expected to cover contract terms, backroom staff, and performance targets, with the GFA aiming to make an appointment before the next international window.
If appointed, Löw will be tasked with rebuilding squad confidence, establishing a defined playing identity, and ensuring competitiveness on the global stage.
