Matchday 28 of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League(GPL) produced an action-packed weekend of results across the country, with one final fixture scheduled for Monday.

The round began on a controversial note as Hohoe United failed to honour their fixture against Eleven Wonders at the Swedru Stadium, citing what they described as systemic unfairness and announcing their withdrawal from the league.

As a result, Eleven Wonders were awarded three points and three goals.

On Saturday, Bechem United were held to a 1-1 draw by Medeama SC at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.

Veteran forward Augustine Okrah gave the hosts the lead before Salim Adams struck late with a free kick to earn Medeama a point.

Sunday’s fixtures had significant implications at both ends of the table.

Hearts of Oak boosted their title hopes with a narrow 1-0 win over Young Apostles at the Accra Sports Stadium, courtesy of a first-half goal from Frank Abora Duku, lifting the Phobians into third place.

At the AAK II Arena, Basake Holy Stars extended their impressive home form with a 1-0 victory over Karela United.

Bismark Teye netted the decisive goal, securing a tenth consecutive home win and moving his side into seventh.

In the Bono derby, Berekum Chelsea edged Aduana FC 1-0 at Golden City Park, with Emmanuel Ofosu scoring the winner to boost Chelsea’s survival hopes.

League leaders Bibiani Gold Stars reclaimed top spot after a 2-1 win over Nations FC at Dun’s Park.

Samuel Atta Kumi opened the scoring, while an own goal by Asante Boahen restored their lead following a penalty equaliser from Razak Simpson.

Heart of Lions secured a 2-0 victory over Vision FC at the Kpando Sports Stadium, thanks to early goals from Kelvin Asenso and Michael Ephson.

Meanwhile, Swedru All Blacks left it late to defeat Dreams FC, with Zayat Bubakari scoring a dramatic winner.

The final game of the round will see Asante Kotoko host FC Samartex at the Baba Yara Stadium on Monday.

Heading into the last fixture, Bibiani Gold Stars, Medeama SC, Hearts of Oak, and Asante Kotoko occupy the top four positions.

At the bottom, Young Apostles, Hohoe United, and Eleven Wonders remain in the relegation zone as the season heads into an active phase.
