The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has organised its first talent identification programme in the United Kingdom, bringing together 40 players of Ghanaian descent currently enrolled in Category One football academies.

The initiative forms part of the GFA's efforts to identify and develop young players eligible to represent Ghana at international level.

The programme was held in Bromley and was organised in collaboration with Coach Hene Sports Club, the Ghana High Commission in the United Kingdom, and Prince Lamona Consult.

Participants, drawn from the U15 to U20 age groups, represented a number of leading English academies, including those of Chelsea, Everton, Manchester City, Arsenal, and other clubs.

The players underwent assessment sessions under the supervision of the GFA's Technical Director, Joseph Kwame Mintah, and FIFA Talent Coach Stuart McLaren, with support from coaches of Coach Hene Sports Club.

According to the GFA, the programme is aimed at strengthening the talent pipeline for Ghana's national teams by identifying players developing in some of Europe's leading football environments.

The Association said the initiative will help create pathways for players to progress into Ghana's youth and senior national teams.

Following the maiden programme in Bromley, the GFA is expected to expand the exercise to include players in Category Two and Category Three academies, as well as those involved in grassroots football across the United Kingdom and other countries.

The Association believes the initiative will also strengthen engagement with Ghanaian communities abroad while ensuring that talented players of Ghanaian heritage remain connected to opportunities within the national team setup.
