Ghana’s fundraising efforts to support the Black Stars’ participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup have received a significant boost following new financial pledges from state institutions and corporate organisations.

Deputy Minister for Finance, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, disclosed that the Bank of Ghana has contributed GHS5 million to the campaign, while the Ghana Revenue Authority has also transferred US$300,000 into the committee’s dollar account.

He further announced that Timeline and Innovation Company Ltd has added GHS1 million to its earlier support, bringing its total contribution to GHS2 million.

In addition, SIC Insurance Company Limited has joined the initiative with a GHS1 million donation.

Mr. Ampem indicated that the fundraising committee has about two weeks to conclude its mobilisation efforts before the funds are handed over to the Ministry of Sports for deployment.

He added that multiple accounts have been opened at the Bank of Ghana in cedi, dollar, euro and pound sterling to facilitate contributions in different currencies.

Speaking on behalf of SIC Insurance Managing Director, Solomon Twum Barimah said the company’s support reflects its commitment to national development and the success of Ghana football.

He also revealed that the company is preparing additional life insurance packages for members of the national team.
