Ghana suffered a 4-2 defeat to The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, leaving the Black Stars without a point after their opening two matches in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Black Stars took a 2-0 lead through Ernest Nuamah’s penalty and Felix Afena-Gyan’s free-kick.

The Gambia responded before half-time, with Mohammed Badamosi converting a penalty before captain Omar Colley equalised in the 42nd minute.

Ghana pushed forward after the break but The Gambia took the lead when Ebrima Colley capitalised on a loose ball to make it 3-2.

Colley then scored his second of the night to complete The Gambia’s 4-2 victory.

The defeat leaves Ghana bottom of Group C without a point after also losing 2-0 to Côte d’Ivoire in their opening qualifier.

The Gambia have six points from their opening two matches after also beating Somalia.

Ghana will now turn their attention to their remaining Group C fixtures against Somalia, Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia.
