Police launch manhunt after Berekum Chelsea player shot dead in bus attack
The Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt for suspects following a deadly attack on a team bus carrying players of Berekum Chelsea FC.
Police said Ghanaian footballer Dominic Frimpong died after sustaining gunshot wounds when armed men ambushed the bus as the team returned from a match.
According to police information, the attack occurred when the bus was blocked by six armed men along the road. The attackers reportedly opened fire, forcing the driver to attempt a reverse while players and officials fled into nearby bushes for safety.
Frimpong was injured during the incident and later died while receiving treatment.
The Police Service said its regional command has deployed additional personnel and crime scene experts to the area to support investigations.
Authorities have assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects, stating that those responsible will be arrested.
The bus was carrying about 30 players and officials at the time of the attack, which happened after a Ghana Premier League match against Samartex FC in Samreboi.
Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
