Sannie Daara: Former GFA exec applauds Partey’s poise, commitment amid visa challenges
Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director Ibrahim Sannie Daara has commended Thomas Partey for remaining dedicated to the Black Stars despite uncertainty surrounding his visa status for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The midfielder was unable to travel to Canada with the rest of the squad after being denied entry for Ghana's opening Group L fixture against Panama. Diplomatic and legal efforts to reverse the decision are ongoing.
Speaking in an interview with media personality and YouTuber Kafui Dey, Daara said the circumstances facing Partey are difficult, particularly given the seriousness of the allegations against him in the United Kingdom.
He suggested the situation may have had a personal impact on the player but noted that Partey has continued to conduct himself professionally.
According to Daara, the midfielder has remained focused despite criticism in the media and negative comments on social media platforms.
He also said Partey has stayed actively involved with the national team during preparations for the tournament.
Daara noted that the player has continued training with the squad and has worked alongside captain Jordan Ayew in providing leadership within the team.
He further expressed hope that the allegations against Partey would not be substantiated.
Partey has pleaded not guilty to the charges through his legal representatives, and the case remains before the courts in the United Kingdom.
Efforts by the Ghanaian government to secure his entry into Canada continue as officials seek to make him available for the Black Stars during the World Cup.
