The Director of Agribusiness Development at the Office of the President, Dr Peter Boamah Otokunor, has visited the Dawhenya Irrigation Scheme in the Greater Accra Region to inspect integrated greenhouse facilities established for vegetable production as part of preparations towards the rollout of the DOBIDI Initiative.

The visit formed part of ongoing efforts to assess agricultural infrastructure and strengthen partnerships aimed at enhancing commercial vegetable production in the country.

During the inspection, Dr. Otokunor engaged with partners of the DOBIDI Initiative, including Maphlix Ltd, to evaluate production systems being operated at the greenhouse facility.

The Dawhenya Irrigation Scheme currently supports the irrigation of more than 100 hectares of arable land, providing a major boost for all-year-round farming and sustainable agricultural production.

He explained that the integrated greenhouse facilities are expected to improve vegetable yields, enhance food security, and create employment opportunities within the agribusiness sector.

The visit also provided an opportunity for discussions on strategies to scale up modern farming technologies and improve productivity under the forthcoming DOBIDI Initiative.

Dr. Otokunor reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting agribusiness development through innovation, irrigation expansion, and strategic partnerships aimed at transforming Ghana’s agricultural sector.
