The Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipality today distributed 10,000 birds to 200 local farmers in a bid to strengthen poultry farming and reduce Ghana’s reliance on imported frozen chicken.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of KEEA, Ismeal Zagoon Seead, urged farmers to carefully nurture the birds, particularly by ensuring proper feeding, to help achieve the “resetting agenda” of President John Dramani Mahama.

This initiative is part of the government’s broader effort to boost the local economy and promote self-sufficiency in poultry production.

Mr Seead emphasised that with proper care, the program would help farmers increase productivity and support the municipality’s economic growth.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Director of Agriculture, Madam Victoria Dansoa Abankwa, encouraged beneficiaries to seek guidance from the Agriculture Department on best practices for bird management.

She specifically highlighted the importance of using the right feed to maintain the health of the birds and sustain farmers’ livelihoods.

The distribution forms part of ongoing efforts by the KEEA Municipal Assembly to empower local farmers, enhance food security, and strengthen the poultry sector in Ghana.
