C/R: Kwame Asare Obeng announces plan to build waterfall to boost tourism in Gomoa Central
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, has revealed plans to construct a waterfall in the constituency by next year as part of efforts to promote tourism and support local economic activity.
On the sidelines of the ongoing Gomoa Easter Carnival with Joy Prime, he said the project is part of a broader plan to position the area as a tourism hub.
He indicated that although Gomoa currently has no waterfall, the proposed project is expected to be ready by the next edition of the festival.
Citing a visit to Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), he explained that the idea is inspired by attractions in other countries, noting that people travel abroad to see artificial sites, which can also be developed locally.
The Gomoa Easter Carnival, initiated by the MP, is a four-day event running from April 2 to April 5, 2026, across communities in the constituency. Activities include a bonfire night, art exhibitions, food bazaars, masquerades, a durbar of chiefs, and street performances aimed at showcasing the cultural heritage of the Gomoa people and supporting local businesses.
The festival also features performances from several Ghanaian artistes, including Kwabena Kwabena, Ofori Amponsah, Kofi Kinaata, Kuami Eugene, Samini, and Shatta Wale, alongside other established and emerging acts.
The event is being organised in partnership with Multimedia Group Limited as part of efforts to strengthen Gomoa’s profile as a cultural and tourism destination.
