Ghanaian comedian DKB has hit back at actor Prince David Osei after his recent remarks on social media linking President John Dramani Mahama to the country’s ongoing power challenges.

In a post on X, Prince David Osei claimed that the Mahama name has become closely associated with “dumsor,” arguing that successive administrations under the President have been plagued by persistent power outages, even as electricity costs remain high and burdensome for citizens.

DKB, however, rejected those claims, accusing the actor of political bias and selective criticism. He suggested that Osei’s comments were driven more by partisanship than a genuine concern for the public.

According to him, President Mahama had already resolved the power crisis before the end of his first term in office, and he blamed the return of load-shedding on the subsequent NPP government, which he said reintroduced the problem without providing a clear roadmap to fix it.

“Yes, he has seen an opportunistic chance to speak. JM solved dumsor before leaving power. Your NPP sent us back to dumsor, without a timetable,” DKB wrote on X.

He also questioned why the actor did not speak out during periods when electricity supply had been stable under Mahama’s leadership.

DKB further argued that the current energy challenges are more technical and infrastructural in nature rather than political, describing the situation as a “system upgrade.”

Meanwhile, Energy Minister John Jinapor announced on Monday, April 27, that two generating units at the GRIDCo substation in Akosombo have been restored, adding about 280 megawatts to the national grid. He added that a third unit is expected to be operational soon, with all six units projected to be fully restored by the end of the week
