Ghanaian actor and outspoken political commentator Prince David Osei has taken a strong swipe at President John Dramani Mahama over the country’s persistent power outages—popularly known as dumsor—and the continued rise in electricity tariffs.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the actor expressed frustration over what he described as a recurring pattern of unreliable power supply under Mahama’s leadership. He argued that both the President’s previous administration from 2012 to 2016 and his current tenure from 2024 to 2026 have been heavily marked by frequent outages that disrupt daily life and economic activity.

According to Prince David Osei, the situation has reached a point where many Ghanaians now associate Mahama’s time in office with ongoing energy challenges. He referenced the severe power crisis experienced between 2012 and 2016, which significantly affected businesses, livelihoods, and productivity across the country, and suggested that the current conditions are beginning to mirror that difficult period.

Beyond the issue of erratic power supply, the actor also raised concerns about the high cost of electricity, insisting that it is unfair for citizens to endure both unreliable service and expensive tariffs at the same time. He stressed that despite Ghana’s ongoing energy struggles, consumers should not be subjected to such financial strain without corresponding improvements in service delivery.

He further called on the President to take urgent steps to address the situation, emphasizing that Ghanaians deserve consistent electricity and more reasonable pricing. His remarks reflect a growing sense of frustration among sections of the public, many of whom have been vocal about the impact of dumsor on businesses, education, and everyday living.
